(Read Part I)
Global Training Systems has been more than 4 years in the making. Years that both feel like a whirlwind flying by and like an arduous mountain climb – much like learning to ride horses! We have mountaintop moments, as well as plateaus that frustrate us so much we might even consider quitting…
My father always said “if it was easy everyone would do it…it’s easier to quit than it is to succeed.”
There were so many times it would have been easier to quit. There were so many times that I had thought I not only understood the problem, but had found the solution. Then I’d realize that things were more complex and we could accomplish even more if we just took one more step… Or found one more solution.
I have often told my children – “mistakes are opportunities for learning.” This process has been, and continues to be, one huge lesson!
The concept of a global training system was born out of a desire to continue to work and train with my trainer as he traveled around the world.
The only way to know what is possible is to try it and see.
We looked at broadcast technology surveillance technology, and conferencing technology as we explored what could become a viable, cost effective solution to my training needs.
I approached top trainers to identify their needs and listen to what they thought would make a transformative change in their industry.
Each time I gathered input and learned more, I developed a clearer understanding of what would be seen as “disruptive” or “game changing ” in equestrian sport.
To all of the amateurs who hope to build a stronger relationship with their equine partner, we say “Salute!”
A deep and solid partnership is every rider’s dream.
I want to thank all those who have been part of the process of developing GTS, with sincere appreciation.
Now in hindsight, I can see that this has been one hell of a ride. And it’s not going to stop anytime soon. We have so many ideas for integrative technology that will continue to enhance the learning of riders and the training of horses.
As we enter this year of preparation and qualification for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, we wish every rider and trainer combination that ever dreamed of going to the Olympics, or hopes to come close now, all the best.
And to all of the amateurs who hope to build a stronger relationship with their equine partner, we say “Salute!”
A deep and solid partnership is every rider’s dream.
